TO ERR ON THE SIDE OF NATURE. THE DHARMA APPROACH.

Updated: Aug 24, 2019

In October 2013 I visited the beautiful island of Koh Samui to indulge in my first elimination fast and the spiritual teachings of the ‘Buddha Dharma’ that would forever leave an imprint within me, and a positive ripple out into the world. I feel blessed by the diversity of this stunning landscape and how it reflected a deep internal process of transformation and self-reflection each and every day, and I write today with an immense amount of gratitude for the teachings, and for Hillary, as I witness every day how this approach and ancient wisdom has supported my growth, my own healing, and has been the backbone of my approach with my incredible clients and their personal healing journeys.

Today's article is a re-cap of a post I wrote soon after returning home from Thailand, which shares some insights into the Buddha Dharma approach, and what it can do for you.

Dharma Healing and the 'Middle Path'.

'Honour the teacher within, honour the wisdom within'.

Dharma Healing is not so much a model that one can just apply, but more of an attitude and approach that one must embody for individual growth and to assist those on a path of physical, emotional & spiritual development. The Buddha Dharma emphasizes the understanding of yourself- knowing yourself- thus the 'Middle Path' of the Buddha Dharma education is a practice of self-inquiry that leads you on a journey toward self-realization. Understanding yourself deeply, knowing that every individual is their own teacher and honouring that each person is indeed different & unique are principle foundations of Buddha Dharma education.

Within the Dharma teachings, fasting is practiced and experienced as a means to deepen our understanding of ourselves and the disharmony & conflict we hold within. Fasting gives opportunity for self-reflection, greater awareness of yourself & others, and supports physical & emotional cleansing and healing. Fasting is often practiced as a means towards enlightenment.

There are many ways to fast, from intermittent fasting day to day, to a deeper immersion of a complete elimination fast. As more and more articles are being released supporting the many health benefits of fasting, many people are now looking to fasting to experience these benefits. Fasting is very personal and individual counseling and coaching is the best way to find an approach that works for you.

As I prepare, gently and with mindfulness, for my second trip to the Dharma Healing Centre for another week of fasting with Hillary, I have opened this experience to my clients and am working with them on their own preparation for what will be a transformative and enlightening week. This also being the beginning of facilitating many more clients to the centre.

Buddha Dharma education holds beliefs & philosophies that are integral to my approach as a Counsellor, Kinesiologist and facilitator of physical, mental, emotional & spiritual healing and growth. The combination of Dharma healing & Mindfulness Counselling with Kinesiology creates a gentle yet powerful tool that can support clients goals of healing while teaching mindfulness techniques and resources that empower individuals within their own life.
